"Thanks to Uncle Sam, who already takes a large chunk of my paycheck, and thanks to Uncle Hippie Sam (thats the one that lives in Cali who takes even *more* out of my paycheck), I have received $600 in the mail to stimulate the economy. It would be un-American not to immediately spend it, right? All-Clad Stainless Steel Cooking Set Shun 3-piece knife (to add to my Shun Ken Onion knife) This actually totaled more than $600. More like 1k. But thankfully, I still have WS contacts and was able to pull some strings now that said contact is leaving that hellhole, and use Contact's discount. I'm totally stoked. Finally. A set of pans and knives that won't completely piss me off. And yes, I realize I'm totally nesting right now. Creepy."
last weekend's plans included more of nothing. I have been attempting to organize my crap (yet again) in order to make room for NG. Even though I have like 10 bags filled with stuff on its way out...
...it didn't stop me from attending a sample sale. What can I say? I cannot resist a good deal. More out of curiousity than anything else, I went to the Esprit sample sale at Fort Mason--a warehouse-like old military base remnant. I like Esprit stuff, but I don't see it as much as I once did. When the Esprit outlet in San Marcos shut down, that was pretty much it for me and Esprit. I digress. I went with little to no expectation -- I expected it to be crowded with a bunch of annoying people, shoving all kinds of overpriced crap into their bags and calling it a deal. Oddly enough, it was quite decent. Not too many people. Lots of stuff/sizes left (I went on day 3 of the sale). $10 dresses. People were actually friendly and helpful because there were no mirrors, and one had to rely on her neighbor to get an opinion. And the clincher: buy 10 things or more, and you get 10% off your entire order. I didn't expect to go shopping except for myself, but there was a table of guys clothes...nice, inexpensive, cool, not-too-gay, guys clothes--all in NG's size. I've never done this before, but I totally went shopping for him. As if I were his mom. *Gulp* What has become of me? When I told this to my friend, he said, "well don't feel bad, I'm going to see SATC tonight with my gf." Ok, I think he wins. |
