Camera info
I am frequently asked if I use any special cameras/lenses/or filters to take pictures/achieve the effects. While I have an assortment of lenses and cameras that I like to play with, my favorite camera/lens combination is probably the most classic: a 50mm prime lens on either a digital or film body.
Digital SLR Bodies
- Canon Mark II
- Canon Xti
Lenses
- Sigma 70-300mm, telephoto and macro
- Canon 10-20mm, ultra-wide
- Canon 50mm, prime
- Canon 85mm, prime
- Canon 17-55mm kit lens
Accessories
- Canon speedlite 430x
Film cameras (the ones I play around with the most)
- Holga (with polaroid back)
- Holga landscape pinhole
- Diana (with polaroid back)
- Yashica Mat 124
- Minolta SRT-101
- Pentax K-1000
- Leica iiif
- Konica Auto S2
- various polaroid cameras
Other digital
Panasonic Lumix TS3 - waterproof, shockproof camera that we purchased after ruining several cameras in extreme conditions.
Programs
- Adobe Lightroom
- Adobe Photoshop
* I shoot in RAW and process my images in Lightroom
Editing Presets/Actions
In addition to the actions and presets that I have created on my own, I like a few out-of-the-box applications:
VSCO
Totally Rad
Afterglow (available for free download online)
Presets Heaven (lots of free presets)
Preset Pond (even more free + paid presets and actions)
Ultimately, I think the best camera is the one that you always carry with you. Whatever camera that is, learn how to use it, learn all the settings, and learn any manual functions it may have. Experiment, play, practice, and have fun!
